In 1946, an entrepreneur named Paul W. Klipsch designed and hand-built the legendary Klipschorn speaker in Hope, Arkansas, with the goal of bringing live music into his living room. He was a true American audio pioneer and a member of the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame. His passion for quality sound and his understanding of the science involved gave rise to speaker technologies that would forever impact generations of music lovers.

A horn loudspeaker (or loudspeaker element) uses an acoustic horn to increase the overall efficiency of the drive component. A common configuration consists of a compression driver which produces sound waves using a small metal diaphragm vibrated by an electromagnet, attached to a flared horn assembly to conduct the sound waves to the open air.  The main advantage of horn loudspeakers is their extreme efficiency; they can typically produce 10 times (10 dB) more sound pressure than a standard cone speaker given the same amplifier output. Therefore, horns are widely used in public address systems, sound systems for large venues like theaters, auditoriums, and sports stadiums, as well as many high-end home audio systems.

Over the decades, Klipsch speakers have become nothing short of legendary and Paul Klipsch’s vision lives on in every horn-loaded product they make. With amazing clarity, wide dispersion and ultimate efficiency, Klipsch speakers will reveal satisfying and vibrant audio that you never thought possible – whether using them with new or existing equipment. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, these world-class speakers allow people to experience their favorite music like nothing else can, short of a live performance – which was the company’s stated objective from the beginning.
